DescriptionThe whole story▼

A wet track day, or a ride home in the rain, shows how much of braking is finesse. On the Daytona 675, with its light front end and quick steering, the gap between a firm stop and a front tyre that lets go can come down to a small change in finger pressure. Accossato's EDF099 brake lever for the Daytona 675 from 2011 to 2017 is machined from aluminium and has an adjustable reach, so the blade can sit where your fingers are most sensitive.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Daytona 675, model years 2011 to 2017
  • Fits the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable near the pivot
  • Available short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long, depending on colour
  • CNC-machined aluminium with anodised finish
  • Black hub, blade in seven colours
  • One rigid piece, no folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes the EDF099 by machining aluminium on CNC equipment and anodising it in two tones, black on the hub and your chosen colour on the blade. There is no paint film for water to creep under, because the colour is part of the oxide layer itself. The blade is fixed and continuous from pivot to tip. With no hinge to take up, every change in finger pressure reaches the master cylinder directly, which is exactly what careful braking in poor grip requires.

Finesse in the Wet

In the rain, grip is still there, but it builds more slowly and runs out sooner. Good wet braking applies the front brake in a smooth ramp: touch, let the tyre take the load, then squeeze harder. Snatching the lever is what upsets the bike. A few things make that ramp easier. Rain gloves are thicker and less sensitive, so use the adjuster to move the blade out a little and keep the first contact soft rather than sudden. Use more fingers than you would in the dry; four fingers on a long blade, made in green, blue, gold and orange, spread the input and make small changes easier to judge. And leave more room, because the precision of the Daytona 675 in the dry does not remove the need for patience in the wet. For riders who use the bike in all conditions, the standard blade remains a sound compromise.

Fitment and Compatibility

The EDF099 is one of two Accossato brake levers for the Daytona 675. It is listed for 2011 to 2017, with separate entries for 2011 and 2012 and for the redesigned bike from 2013, while the other lever, the EDF035, is listed for 2006 to 2017. As both appear for the later years, compare your original lever with the photos of the two products before choosing. For the clutch, Accossato lists the EST333 across 2006 to 2017.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented for this lever; it is sold for circuit use.
