DescriptionThe whole story▼
Track days are booked weeks in advance, and the weather rarely takes notice. Plenty of riders arrive with their Yamaha MT-07 to find the circuit wet and the sky grey, and then discover that a rain session teaches more about smooth riding than any sunny afternoon. In those conditions a firm contact between boot and footpeg counts for more than usual. Accossato's FT089 is an adjustable aluminium rearset for the MT-07 from 2014 to 2016, with knurled footpegs and lever tips, aluminium heel guards and a foot position further back than stock.

- Adjustable racing rearsets for the Yamaha MT-07, 2014 to 2016

- Heel guards made from aluminium
- Pegs positioned further rearward than the originals
- Standard or reversed shift pattern

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the FT089 from aluminium and keeps its design simple and functional. The detail that matters most here is the knurling on the footpegs and on the tips of the gear lever and brake pedal, exactly where a boot sole presses. Beside the pegs, aluminium heel guards give the heels a firm plate to rest against. The kit is adjustable according to Accossato, although its description does not explain how. It is available in all black or black with blue details, and it can be shifted in the standard pattern or reversed.
Wet Soles on a Wet Circuit
Rain changes everything on a circuit, including the work your feet do. Water collects on the soles of your boots in the pit lane, and grit from the track sticks to them. A smooth peg offers little hold to a wet rubber sole, and a foot that slips at the wrong moment can upset the bike just when you least need it: during a downshift at the end of a straight, or while you move your weight across the seat before a corner. Knurled pegs and lever tips give the sole a textured surface to bite into, which helps keep your feet where you put them. The rest is technique. In the wet every input on the MT-07 should be gentle. Brake earlier and build the pressure progressively, open the throttle smoothly, and keep your weight low and steady on the pegs rather than on the handlebar. A light twin with a predictable engine is a good teacher in these conditions. One small habit helps as well: wipe the soles of your boots on something dry before you ride out.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT089 for the Yamaha MT-07 from 2014 to 2016; later MT-07 model years are not part of this listing. The reversed shift pattern is an option for the circuit and would be unusual on the road. We recommend a workshop for installation. Both linkages need adjusting, the rear brake must keep a little free play, and the brake light has to come on when you press the pedal. Tighten the bolts to Yamaha's torque values, apply thread locker as specified, and check the position on the stand before your first wet or dry session.
Road Approval
No German ABE or parts certificate has been documented for the FT089. Accordingly, the rearsets are intended for track use only.
