DescriptionThe whole story

Three laps is all a hard-ridden BRUTALE 1000 RR needs to put its front brake at the top of its window. The shape is the B005, the longest pad ZCOO builds, at 102.2 by 42.0 mm and 8.05 mm thick. The B005 in EX Race trim is the version ZCOO builds for riders who value feel over first bite.

Key Features

  • A pad geometry drawn for this caliper family rather than shared across three of them, which is why the B005 fills its window
  • Progressive rather than digital: on the MV Agusta BRUTALE 1000 RR the first millimetre of lever travel produces the first millimetre of deceleration
  • Ceramic sintering rather than a resin binder, so there is nothing in the B005 to cook out at the top of the range
  • Sized for the braking energy a 998 cc machine generates, not scaled down from a larger reference
  • Listed for the MV Agusta BRUTALE 1000 RR across 6 model years (2020 to 2025)
  • Front axle only: ZCOO lists no rear pad under the B005 reference

Construction and Material Quality

The B005 is a racing part in the way it is made, not only in the way it is sold. Sintering fuses the ceramic to the plate, which is what lets the B005 hold together where an organic pad has begun to break down. Together they remove the two things that normally end a sintered pad, and the B005 is built against both: fade at the top of the range, and the friction layer lifting away.

Performance and Feel

The defining property of the EX Race mixture in the B005 is a flat friction curve. It works from cold without a warm-up lap and does not turn grabby once the B005 is hot. For a BRUTALE 1000 RR on track that is the difference between running out of brake and running out of tyre.

Fitment and Compatibility

This reference is catalogued for the Brembo-equipped MV Agusta BRUTALE 1000 RR, 2020 to 2025. The B005 fits the front axle of the BRUTALE 1000 RR and nothing else. The same B005 shape covers 117 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 102.2 mm length and 42.0 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
