The Akrapovic Slip-On Line (Titanium) S-S10SO17-HAPT takes 41.6 per cent off the Suzuki GSX-S1000's standard silencer, adds 2.6 PS, and measures 93.8 dB against the standard 94.5 — seven tenths of a decibel below the bike it replaces. Quieter, Lighter, Faster

Those three rarely appear together. The reason they do here is that the standard GSX-S1000 silencer is a compact unit already — 2.43 kg, not the eight-kilogram brick some manufacturers fit — so Akrapovic could not win by simply removing bulk. Instead the muffler internals were tuned to the type-approval limit rather than up to it, which is how the measured level ended up below standard while the tone changed completely.

The one kilogram removed is still meaningful, because on this bike it comes off a short tail where the standard part sits high and close to the rear wheel.

Four Names, One Engine Bay

Suzuki built four motorcycles around the same 999 cc four in these years. The GSX-S1000 is the naked; the GT is the same bike with a fairing, a screen and touring intent; the GSX-S950 is a lower-output version for restricted licences in some markets; the Katana wraps the lot in its own bodywork. All four share the frame, the exhaust routing and the silencer mount.

That is why the fitment list here is longer than most, and it is worth checking against your own registration document rather than the model name on the tank. Installation is 30 minutes on any of them and needs no remapping.
