DescriptionThe whole story▼
The SP is the Hypermotard 950 in its sharpest form, with longer-travel suspension, a quick-shifter as standard and a stance that makes it as much at home on a circuit as on a mountain road. Many owners take the Hypermotard 950 SP to track days, and on a racetrack an engine that stays dry is a matter of safety as well as courtesy to everyone else out there. For the SP of 2019, Accossato lists the FP004, an oil filler cap with an M20x2.5 thread, CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised in eight colours.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP, 2019
- Both SP variants of 2019 on Accossato's list
- Thread M20x2.5 according to Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Eight colours: titanium, black, silver, gold, red, orange, blue, green
- Adaptable to other motorcycles with the same cap size, after checking
- TS012 rear reservoir cap listed for the same bike
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium, CNC machining and anodising: that is the recipe for the FP004, and the anodised layer carries whichever colour you choose, from titanium, black and silver to gold, red, orange, blue and green. Accossato, whose history includes an Enduro world title in 1985, specifies the thread as M20x2.5 and adds that the cap can be adapted to other motorcycles with a filler of the same size. That thread is also the figure to compare if your Hypermotard 950 SP already wears a non-original cap.
Keeping the Circuit Clean
Oil on a racetrack is everyone's problem. A small seep from a filler that was not seated properly can find its way to a tyre, and sessions are stopped for much less. That is why organisers look for leaks at the technical check, and why a rider whose bike is losing fluid may be shown the black flag with the orange disc. For the owner of a Hypermotard 950 SP, the answer is a simple routine. Check the level at home the evening before, cold and exactly as the owner's manual prescribes, and top up there rather than in the paddock. Afterwards, wipe the engine clean around the filler so that any fresh trace of oil is easy to spot during the day. Refit the FP004 by hand until it sits on its face; forcing it achieves nothing except a stiff thread next time. Between sessions a glance at the filler and the casing below takes seconds, and if anything looks wet, let the engine cool completely before you investigate.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP004 for two variants of the Hypermotard 950 SP, both from 2019. In our catalogue the same cap also appears under the standard Hypermotard 950, the Hyperstrada 821 and the Monster 795, which Accossato gives with the same M20x2.5 filler. If you are unsure about the thread on your SP, compare it with the original cap before ordering. The TS012, Accossato's cap for the rear brake reservoir of this bike, makes a pair with it, and seven of the eight oil cap colours are offered for it as well.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test mark are on record for the FP004, which is why we supply it for circuit and competition use.
