DescriptionThe whole story▼

Racing heavy cruisers has become a spectator attraction in some series, and custom builders sometimes turn a big Guzzi into a performance project. For those rare cases Accossato catalogues the AGPA96 front pad in its EV2 racing compound, article AGPA96EV2, for the Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400 from 2015 to 2017. For everyday cruising it is not the natural choice; it is a pad for the bike that is being built to go fast on a closed course.

Key Features

  • AGPA96EV2 front pads for the Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400
  • Catalogued for 2015 to 2017
  • EV2 racing compound, which Accossato calls a top racing mixture
  • A specialist choice for performance builds
  • Designed for repeated heavy stops on a circuit
  • Plate also produced as OR, ST, EV1 and ZXC
  • Competition only; no German approval documents

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato calls EV2 a top racing compound. It is designed for the loads of competition, where the brakes are used hard and often, and the maker's general claims of long life, strong stopping and fade held off by controlled heat apply to it as well. Accossato does not publish the ingredients, so we do not describe any. The EV2 friction layer comes on the AGPA96 plate that fits the Audace's standard front calipers.

Performance Builds on a Big Twin

A performance-focused Audace project usually starts with suspension, ground clearance and tyres, and the brakes follow. A heavy bike at speed carries a lot of energy, and stopping it lap after lap puts the front pads under serious strain. A racing compound is meant for exactly that situation, whether on a closed track or at a demonstration event.

For road riding between events, a road mixture remains the sensible option, and it is worth labelling each set so the right pads go back into the calipers afterwards. When swapping, clean the pistons, push them back carefully and pump the lever until firm.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA96 for the front brake of the Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400 from 2015 to 2017, and AGPA92 for the rear over the same years. There is no Accossato disc for this model. Plan on two boxes for the two front calipers.

Road Approval

We hold no ABE or German test mark for AGPA96EV2; the set is offered for racing and competition purposes.

Scope of Delivery
