DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 1290 Super Adventure T is the touring-oriented member of KTM's big-twin travel family, built for days that start early and end several borders later. Hands are the first part of the rider to notice such days: by evening they have held the throttle and worked the controls for hours, and their grip is not what it was in the morning. The Accossato EDD001 is a CNC-machined aluminium front brake lever for the 1290 Super Adventure T, listed from 2017 to 2020, with an adjustable distance to the grip and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure T, 2017 to 2020
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Long blade for more leverage in blue, gold, green or orange
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm in all seven colours
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver
- Adjustable reach
- Anodised CNC-machined aluminium, black hub, fixed blade
Construction and Material Quality
The EDD001 is shaped from aluminium by CNC machining and anodised in two tones. Its hub, housing the pivot and the reach adjuster, is always black, and its blade carries the colour you choose. Anodising builds the colour into the hard oxide surface of the metal, which keeps the finish consistent over years of touring. There is no folding joint between hub and tip; the lever is one solid piece, so the effort from a tired hand is not lost in any movement of the lever itself.
At the End of a Long Day
Muscles that have held a throttle and worked the controls for eight hours lose some of their strength and a good deal of their fine control. That matters most when it is least expected: the car that pulls out on the last stretch before the hotel. A lever set up for a tired hand is set up differently. Its reach should be close enough that the fingers can wrap around it without a stretch, and its length should provide leverage, so that a firm stop does not depend on grip strength. The long EDD001 places the fingers further from the pivot, where less effort produces the same pressure. Breaks every couple of hours, a stretch of the fingers at fuel stops and a lever that asks little of the hand help the last hour of a long day on the 1290 Super Adventure T feel as controlled as the first.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDD001 is listed here for the 1290 Super Adventure T from 2017 to 2020, fitted to the original master cylinder. Accossato's T entry begins earlier because it also takes in the predecessor, which KTM sold simply as the 1290 Super Adventure; this product starts with the first T. The ESA090 clutch lever covers the same years for the left side of the bar, so both levers can share a colour.
Road Approval
Because the EDD001 has no documented German ABE, we offer it for use on the track.
