The Ninja 400 is the bike that fills club-racing grids, and almost none of the ones on those grids still have a key in them. Between scrutineering, quick turnarounds and the simple fact that a race bike does not need a lock, the ignition barrel is dead weight. JP KS KA024 is the switch that replaces it.
Key Features
- Purpose-made for the Kawasaki Ninja 400, 2018 through 2024
- Removes the ignition block, barrel and key entirely
- Around 350 g saved — a meaningful figure on a bike this light
- Ergal billet housing with an IP69K-sealed push button
- Key Box supplied for machines fitted with an immobiliser
- Plug-and-play: the factory connector plugs straight into the switch
Made for Club Racing
On a 400 the arithmetic is different. Three hundred and fifty grams is a larger share of the total, and it comes off the very top of the machine, where it costs the most in steering effort. Add the practical side — no key to lose in a paddock, no barrel to fumble with on a hot restart — and the switch earns its place before you get to the way it looks.
Fitment and Compatibility
- Kawasaki Ninja 400 (2018–2024)
Road Approval
None. This switch removes the factory ignition lock and is sold for closed-circuit and competition use only. A road-registered Ninja 400 fitted with it is no longer compliant.
In the Box and On the Bike
The kit is the switch assembly, the Key Box housing and the connector harness — everything the swap needs. On a Ninja 400 the whole job is straightforward enough to do the evening before a track day: the original barrel unbolts, the switch bolts on in its place, and the loom plug transfers across. Nothing is cut, so a bike that goes back to road use in the winter can be returned to standard.
