The 350 is the largest engine this element is asked to feed, and that cuts both ways. A bigger engine draws more air per hour, so it wants more of the flow a P14 gives up. Yet the dust that reaches the inlet arrives suspended in that same air, so the bigger engine also presents more of it to the medium in the same hour. Both halves of the trade grow together on this machine, which makes it the one worth thinking about rather than assuming.
Key Features
- Dry special nonwoven rated at 14 microns, against 80 for the P08 that fits the same airbox
- 1,800 litres per square metre per second of rated flow, where the P08 is rated at 5,050
- Approximately double the filtering surface of an ordinary performance element
- Series airbox retained in full: the element is a direct replacement and the mapping is untouched
- Runs dry throughout, so nothing is carried off it into the intake behind
- Cleaned and refitted for the life of the machine; two years of warranty from the purchase date
Dose and demand rise together
Air consumption is what links them. Everything a filter guards against is suspended in the air being drawn, so the quantity of dust presented to a medium over a season follows the volume that passed through it, not the distance on the odometer. The largest capacity on this fitment list moves the most air and therefore collects the most, which is the argument for the finer medium. It is equally the machine with the highest peak demand, which is the argument against. A catalogue cannot settle that; the roads settle it.
The honest limit
A slot-in element does not make a standard ZT 350-R stronger. Peak output is set by capacity, valve timing, throttle area and the calibration written around them, and a filter panel is the last and smallest term in that chain — while this particular panel has handed back headroom rather than freeing any. If the machine spends real time in the upper part of the rev range, that reserve is being surrendered exactly where it gets drawn, and the P08 at 80 microns and 5,050 litres is the better-matched element for the same housing. If it is ridden on dusty roads at ordinary road speeds, it is not.
Care and cleaning
Maintenance is compressed air, applied to the clean side and pushed out through the material. Oily loading, as opposed to dry dust, lifts with lukewarm water and a mild detergent followed by a rinse until the water comes off clear. The element then dries in moving air at ambient temperature, because heat and flame are what end an SM277P14, and it goes back in exactly as dry as it came out. The maintenance sheet lives in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
The P14 for the Zontes ZT 350-R, catalogued 2020 to 2026 — the longest run on this list. Eight more Zontes entries use the identical element, reaching back to a 250 built in 2019.
