A filter protects things that cost far more than it does, and on a machine out of production since 2020 that ratio has quietly moved. No new Classic 500 leaves a factory; every engine in the model is the one it will keep. The CM195P14 repairs nothing and improves nothing — it reduces what gets past, from 80 µm down to 14 µm — and that argument grows stronger as the machine behind it becomes harder to replace.
Key Features
- Dry non-woven medium rated at 14 µm, the finest option listed for this airbox
- Flow rated at 1,800 l/m²/sec, lower than the standard weave by design
- Never oiled: nothing to spray on, nothing to end up on a sensor face
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance elements, in the unaltered box
- Direct replacement for the paper panel of the 2009 to 2020 machine
- Washable, reusable and covered by two years of warranty
Twelve model years, one entry
The catalog covers the whole run of the model with a single number, so a first-year machine and a last-year machine take the identical element. That is convenient at the counter and useful in the box: whatever was fitted before, and whoever fitted it, the intake in front of the engine becomes a known quantity again from the moment this one goes in. On a motorcycle of this age that is often worth more than any figure on the packet.
The trade, stated plainly
Finer cloth holds more and flows less. From 80 µm to 14 µm is a large step in retention; 1,800 against 5,050 l/m²/sec is the price of it. A 500 single asks for far less air than either figure describes, so the reduction is not something a rider will feel — but it is real, and it is why this medium is not simply the better one. Nor does it add anything: a drop-in element does not make a standard Classic 500 noticeably stronger. It is bought for the engine's sake, not the throttle's.
Care and cleaning
Blow the CM195P14 out dry with compressed air, directed from the clean side towards the dirty one so the load leaves by the route it took in. Water only when something greasy has settled: lukewarm, a mild detergent, then rinsed until clear. Drying is done by air alone and takes as long as it takes — heaters, hot air and flames are all off limits — and the element is refitted untreated. The maintenance sheet lives in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Royal Enfield Classic 500 of 2009 to 2020. The same element also covers the Bullet B5 500 EFI and the Bullet Trials 500 EFI, both from 2011 to 2026, and the Continental GT35 EFI of 2015 to 2018 — four machines on one part number. Please confirm your year in the Fitment tab.
