DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered exclusively for the track, the Öhlins FKR Cartridge Kit Racing (TTX 25) FKR 104 transforms the front-end behaviour of the BMW S1000RR K46 (2009–2018) into a weapon-grade tool for lap-time reduction. Where conventional open-bath or standard gas-pressure cartridges fall short under sustained racing conditions, this sealed, pressurised closed-system cartridge eliminates the risk of pressure loss through leakage and delivers relentlessly consistent damping lap after lap.
Key Features
- Closed, pressurised system removes the air-cavitation and pressure-loss vulnerabilities inherent in traditional gas-pressure fork designs, ensuring consistent performance throughout a full race session.
- TTX technology combined with a newly developed piston construction delivers faster response times and a linear damping characteristic that directly improves traction and front-end stability under hard braking and corner entry.
- Three fork spring rates supplied as standard (9.0, 9.5 and 10.0 N/mm) allow immediate spring-rate selection at the circuit to suit rider weight, tyre choice and circuit demands.
- Spring compatibility with the 04744 series gives access to the full Öhlins spring range for fine-tuned setup without sourcing proprietary components.
- 120 mm of stroke is precisely calibrated for the S1000RR K46 geometry, preserving the factory steering head angle while unlocking full suspension travel adjustment.
- Maintenance-friendly construction reduces service intervals compared to conventional cartridge units, keeping the bike ready between race weekends.
TTX Technology and Damping Performance
The TTX (Twin Tube X) platform at the heart of the FKR 104 has long been Öhlins' benchmark for top-level motorsport. The redesigned piston in this cartridge generation sharpens the hydraulic response threshold, so the damping circuit reacts to small, high-frequency inputs — road surface texture, tyre chatter — without compromising control over the larger, slower inputs of braking bumps and mid-corner disturbances. The result is a linear force-velocity curve that translates directly into rider confidence: a front end that communicates grip rather than masking it.
Track Application and Setup
The FKR 104 is a dedicated motorsport component. Three spring rates ship with every kit so a baseline can be established from the first session; progression through the spring selection is straightforward as rider data and tyre data accumulate across a race weekend. Öhlins recommends installation by an authorised Öhlins Service Centre to ensure correct preload, oil level, and clicker baseline settings before the bike leaves the garage.
Race use only. This product carries no type approval for use on public roads in Germany under StVZO regulations.
