DescriptionThe whole story▼
After a heavy crash there is a right order in which to put the front of a bike back together, and levers come late in it. Work from the frame outwards and you will not fit a new control to a bent handlebar or a twisted clamp, which is how a repair gets done twice. On an FE 501 the cockpit is simple enough that a careful hour sorts it out. For the 2014 to 2017 bikes, Accossato lists the AGD316, a silver front brake lever in the original shape.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's aim with the AGD316 was a cheap repair rather than a new part in the usual sense, and that is what its original spare parts type description signals. The lever follows the outline Husqvarna gave the FE 501 of those years, so it slots into the cockpit without changing anything, and the company states that its manufacturing process leaves these levers more resistant after damage or a collision. The colour listed here is silver. Accossato publishes no material and no dimensions, and none are claimed on our part.
Rebuilding the Cockpit
Start at the bottom. Loosen the bar clamps and check that the handlebar is straight by eye and by feel, turning it in the clamps and sighting along it from the front; a bar that has taken a set gets replaced, because straightening one is worse than straightening a lever. Then set the bar where you want it and tighten the clamps evenly. Next come the perches. A perch that rotated in the fall has done its job and simply needs putting back to the angle you ride with, clamped firm but not locked solid, so it can turn again next time. Only then fit the levers, with the pivots and bores cleaned and given a thin film of grease. On the brake side, check that the blade works the master cylinder piston squarely and that the free play matches the handbook, then squeeze several times until the pressure point is firm. Finish by turning the bars from lock to lock, watching that no cable or hose is pulled tight, and take the FE 501 for a slow test ride before trusting it on anything difficult.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the AGD316 belongs to the FE 501 from 2014 to 2017, with the AGD14 for 2018 to 2023 and the AGD319 for 2024. The same AGD316 is catalogued with us for the FC 350, the FE 250 and the TE 125, so it covers a large part of the Husqvarna range of that era. On the clutch side the FE 501 takes the AGS14 up to 2016 and the AGS17 from 2018. Accossato's CNC levers for this machine are the B8283, the C7283 and the C7284.
Road Approval
Since no test certificate or approval paper for the AGD316 has been given to us, the lever carries no German ABE and no test mark, and we offer it for racing and competition.
