DescriptionThe whole story▼

A bigger four-stroke like the Husqvarna FC 450 puts more load through the chain on every lap than its smaller siblings, and that extra weight and power show up most where the chain drags across the top of the swingarm on the way to the rear sprocket. Accossato builds the GPM1 for that stretch of the FC 450 from 2014 to 2015, a slider the chain runs over so the extra load of the bigger bike wears a replaceable part rather than the swingarm itself.

Key Features

  • Swingarm chain slider for the Husqvarna FC 450, 2014 to 2015
  • Accossato code GPM1, fits along the top of the swingarm
  • Chain runs over the slider rather than the swingarm itself
  • Orange, blue or black
  • Same part also listed for the FC 250, the FC 350 and a wide run of other Husqvarna and KTM off-road models
  • Pairs with Accossato's GCM1 chain guide and axle blocks on the same bike
  • No German ABE on file; for off-road and competition riding

Construction and Material Quality

The GPM1 sits flush along the section of the FC 450's swingarm the chain crosses, shaped to this bike rather than cut to a generic length. Orange, blue and black cover the choice of finish, with orange and black closest to the bike's own factory colours. On the bigger-engined FC 450, checking the slider's surface a little more often than on a smaller bike is a reasonable habit, given the extra load passing through it on every lap.

More Weight Through the Ruts

A 450-class four-stroke drives harder out of every rut and corner than a smaller bike covering the same ground, and that extra drive does not stop at the rear tyre; it works its way back through the chain and into whatever the chain is dragging across on top of the swingarm. Riders who have owned both a smaller Husqvarna and an FC 450 often notice the slider on the bigger bike picking up wear sooner, simply because more power is going through the same mechanism lap after lap. A slider built for this bike takes that extra load in the place the smaller models' sliders are designed for too, but the margin for ignoring wear here is smaller given how much more work the part is doing. Checking it at shorter intervals than might feel necessary on a smaller bike is a sensible precaution rather than overcaution.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's own application list limits this slider to the FC 450 built in 2014 and 2015, a narrower window than the chain guide's span for the same bike. A long run of other Husqvarna and KTM off-road models sharing this swingarm, including the smaller FC 250 and FC 350, take the identical part across those same two years. Riders fitting out the rest of the chain line on this bike can add Accossato's chain guide and either style of axle block to the same order.

Road Approval

Accossato has no German ABE on file for the GPM1, so it is intended for off-road and competition use, not for a bike used on public roads.
