How Öhlins Makes Them

What the Rear Spring Decides
Rear spring rate sets ride height and static sag, and those two decide the chassis attitude before any damping click matters. Öhlins sells rear springs separately precisely because rider weight varies more than machine weight does. The damper can only control the spring it is given; the wrong rate makes every setting a compromise.
Applications
The safest way to choose is by static sag: set the target figure, and the rate follows from whether you can reach it with preload. Öhlins lists no fixed model here — the spring is defined by its measurements, and any fork with matching dimensions can take it. Öhlins builds springs to dimensions rather than to model lists, so the question is always the same: does the diameter fit, does the length fit, and is the rate right for the rider?
Fitting
Torque the fork caps to the manufacturer's figure; the springs change nothing about the assembly torque. Fork oil should be replaced at the same time — it is already out of the leg. Öhlins part numbers are stamped on the packaging rather than the spring, so keep the label with the setup notes.
Road Approval
