Not Sold Separately
Ducati integrates the switches into the throttle assembly and offers no smaller replacement. A single intermittent contact means buying the complete part, which is where an aftermarket alternative becomes worth considering.
An Aftermarket That Makes Sense
Because the factory route is the whole assembly anyway, the comparison is not plastic against metal at a premium. It is one complete component against another.
Feel Through Winter Gloves
Thick leather removes most of the information a switch provides. Defined edges and consistent travel give some of it back, which is why owners change parts that technically still work.
Öhlins at Both Ends
The S specification is about damping rather than power. On a motorcycle built for mountain roads that is the correct priority and it is why the S is the one worth finding used.
What Corrodes
Copper alloy contacts behind a moulded cover, once water has reached them and stayed. The mechanism is usually fine; the terminal underneath it is what stops conducting.
Thirty Thousand Kilometres
The Testastretta 11 degree valve interval changed what a Ducati costs to keep. It is the least glamorous decision the company made in twenty years and possibly the most useful.
Anodising Is Not Paint
The colour is grown into the top layer of the aluminium through an electrochemical process. There is no film sitting on the surface, which is why a scuff dulls rather than exposes.
A Trellis Underneath
Ducati built the SuperSport around a conventional steel frame while its superbikes had abandoned them entirely. At road speeds the difference in feel is real and it is part of why this bike works.
Untouched Wiring
The unit terminates in the factory plug. No splices, no adapters and nothing for a future owner or workshop to discover behind the fairing.
