The Right Bike for the Racing Order
If any motorcycle in the range is likely to be used the way this layout assumes, it is this one. The M1000RR exists to satisfy World Superbike homologation, and a substantial proportion of them see circuit use. Specifying the racing arrangement on one is less a modification than a completion.
What Changes and What Does Not
Red, grey, black, blue from the top instead of red, blue, grey, black. The functions themselves are unchanged and the wiring is identical; only the physical order of the switch elements differs. It is set during assembly and cannot be rearranged afterwards.
Finding a Button at 300 km/h
On an M there are speeds at which removing a hand from the bar is a deliberate act with consequences. The thumb has to reach the correct control on the first attempt, counting positions rather than reading colours. That is why the order of the stack is offered as a specification rather than a preference.
The Whole Right-Hand Assembly
The switches are inside the throttle housing on this motorcycle, so this unit replaces both. It is machined from one block of Ergal 7075, anodised black, and plugs into the original BMW connector without any wiring change.
Covers the Full Production Run
The fitment runs from the model's 2020 launch to the present. BMW has not altered the M1000RR's cockpit architecture in that time, so a single housing serves every year of the bike so far.
Fixed at Assembly
The switch order is set when the unit is built and cannot be rearranged later. That is worth stating plainly, because it means the decision belongs at the point of order rather than in the garage, and a rider without a settled preference is usually better off with the standard arrangement.
