The Last Hyperstrada
Ducati built the 939 version for two model years and then let the model go entirely. Nothing in the current range does what it did, which is why the ones that survive rarely come up for sale.
Plain Face
No maker's mark on the visible surface. It is the version for an owner who wants better hardware without the component drawing attention to itself.
Nine Hundred and Thirty-Seven Cubic Centimetres
The enlarged Testastretta 11 degree, meeting Euro 4 with more torque than the 821 managed. Ducati went on to use this engine across half the range.
Throttle Assembly Alone
This part leaves the switch block in place. It covers the housing, which is what an owner needs when the switchgear works properly.
A Machined Bore
The tube turns inside a bore that is cut rather than formed, which keeps the throttle's feel consistent across the mileage a touring bike accumulates.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the aluminium. It survives rain, salt and gravel considerably better than any coating would.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a bike loaded with luggage, the handlebar carries more than it looks like it does.
A Bigger Tank
Ducati fitted sixteen litres rather than the Hypermotard's twelve and a half. On a motorcycle intended for actual journeys, that is the difference between a stop every hour and a stop every two.
Softer, Not Soft
The Hyperstrada's suspension is set up for comfort and load rather than for supermoto abuse. It still steers like a Hypermotard, which is most of the reason to want one.
