One of Two Arrangements
Aligned bolts rather than staggered. An S is more likely to have had its brake assembly changed at some point, which makes confirming the clamp worth the effort.
There Is Nothing Smaller
Ducati's parts catalogue offers the complete block and no component within it. A machined replacement is therefore a comparison between two assemblies, not a premium over a repair.
An Electrolytic Finish
Anodising changes the aluminium itself rather than sitting on top of it. Nothing can chip, and there is no printed legend to disappear after four summers.
Resistance, Then Failure
A wet terminal oxidises and develops resistance long before it breaks. That is why the fault presents as intermittent for months and why it is so easily ignored.
Reversible in Twenty Minutes
Nothing is cut anywhere in the harness. The standard block returns just as quickly, which keeps the motorcycle straightforward for whoever owns it next.
A Tolerance Across the Batch
Cut parts are dimensionally identical from first to last. Injection tools wear, and two blocks from the same part number can sit measurably differently on the same clamp.
Suspension Over Power
The S adds Öhlins at both ends and a quickshifter and leaves the engine alone. On a motorcycle built for mountain roads that is unambiguously the right priority.
The Engine That Carried a Range
The 937 cc Testastretta appeared in the Hypermotard, the Multistrada 950 and the Monster 937 as well as here. Ducati built one good middleweight twin and used it everywhere.
Half a Fairing
Enough bodywork to make a motorway bearable without turning the bike into a superbike. It is a difficult balance and Ducati found it at the first attempt.
