One of Two Patterns
Aligned bolts rather than staggered ones, determined by the master cylinder clamp. Monsters get modified there more than most Ducatis, so it is worth a look before ordering.
The Whole Block or Nothing
Ducati has never sold the switches separately. On a bike approaching a decade old, one intermittent function therefore costs the complete assembly at the parts counter.
Colour Grown Into the Metal
An electrolytic process converts the surface rather than covering it. There is no film to lift, which on a motorcycle parked outdoors through winters shows within two seasons.
How It Actually Goes Wrong
Water works past a moulded seam, sits on a terminal and oxidises it over months. The button above is usually perfectly sound when the function stops answering reliably.
Two Fasteners and a Plug
That is the whole job, and because nothing is cut the original can be refitted just as quickly. Nothing has been created for a future owner to puzzle over.
A Dimension That Does Not Drift
Machining holds its tolerance across an entire production run. Injection tools wear, and a block moulded late in a tool's life does not sit quite as a fresh one did.
A Hundred and Forty-Seven Horsepower
The 2017 revision made this the fastest twin-cylinder Monster ever built, with a reworked trellis and a lower seat than the bike it replaced.
Cornering ABS
Ducati fitted a Bosch inertial platform to a naked bike, where unfamiliar roads and unpredictable surfaces make lean-sensitive braking genuinely more useful than on a circuit.
Hung From the Cylinder Heads
The trellis bolts directly to the engine, which carries structural load. Ducati has built frames this way since the 1970s and the Monster is where the idea is most visible.
