Limited From the Start
Aprilia sold the RF in numbered batches with a Superpole livery and Öhlins suspension while the RR carried Sachs. The two are mechanically identical where it counts and separated by what the rider touches.
Intake Trumpets That Move
The V4's intake tract shortens as revs rise, filling the midrange without costing top end. It is one of the reasons a 999.6 cc engine could make 201 hp and still pull cleanly from six thousand.
The Offset Pattern
These mounting holes are staggered to suit the original master cylinder clamp. The universal version exists for bikes with radial replacements; the two are not interchangeable and the bar tells you which is which.
Four Anodised Finishes
Black, blue, red and titanium, converted into the aluminium rather than sprayed over it. The Superpole scheme carries black, red and a good deal of white, so three of the four sit comfortably with it.
Milled From One Block
Ergal 7075 cut on a machine, with the switch elements sealed inside the body. The original is moulded in halves and the joint is where the moisture eventually gets in.
What Wears Out First
Not the mechanism but the printed legend on the original, which fades under UV and a summer of gloves. The milled version carries no printing to lose.
Original Connector
Wired to Aprilia's plug, so nothing is cut and nothing needs coding. The old assembly comes off and this one goes on in the same fifteen minutes.
Numbered, Not Merely Badged
The RF came in defined batches with a plate on the top yoke, which is unusual for a bike sold in these numbers. It has kept values noticeably firmer than the RR, and owners tend to spend accordingly on what the bike is fitted with.
