Staggered Mounting
This version carries the offset hole pattern rather than the aligned one. It is the arrangement used with the other of the two clamp types found on these motorcycles, and there is no adapting one to the other.
Establish It Before Ordering
The distinction does not survive a product photograph. Taking the existing block off the bar and looking at where the screws enter takes two minutes and prevents the most common return in this category.
A Frame Without a Rear End
Aprilia uses the engine as a structural member and bolts the swingarm to it, dispensing with a subframe. It is why the RS 660 weighs 183 kilograms and why almost nothing about the chassis can be changed.
Electronics From Above the Class
Six-axis measurement, cornering ABS, traction and wheelie control, adjustable engine braking. This was a litre-bike specification sold at a middleweight price and it reset expectations for the segment.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the aluminium. It is the choice that leaves the fairing to do the visual work, which on a bike shaped like this one is generally correct.
Milled and Sealed
Cut from a single block with the switch elements enclosed. The moulded original has a joint running through it and that joint is how the water eventually gets in.
Feel Through a Glove
Machined edges and defined travel give a rider information that a smooth moulded surface does not. It is the practical reason to change a block that still technically works.
Original Connector
Pre-wired to Aprilia's plug so the exchange is mechanical. Nothing is spliced and nothing appears on the dashboard afterwards.
