A Separate Electrical System
The inputs here belong to the I2M dashboard rather than to the motorcycle. Fitted to a bike still running its original harness this block has nowhere to send anything.
Channels and Sample Rates
What a team actually buys is the ability to choose both. A road logger records a fixed list at a fixed frequency and a race system records whatever is asked at whatever rate.
The Order of Installation
Loom, dashboard, then this. It is the final component of a build rather than the first, and attempting it in another order wastes an afternoon.
Pressed at Speed
A lap marker or a page change, made mid-corner in gloves with the eyes elsewhere. That is a duty cycle no road control was ever designed around.
Enclosed Elements
Military-specification contacts inside the machined body. Hot water twenty minutes after a session is what ends switchgear on a circuit bike rather than mileage.
Black Anodised
Grown into the metal. Race parts are cleaned aggressively and stored badly, and an anodised surface takes both far better than paint does.
A Hundred and Sixteen Newton Metres
The 1299's torque increase over the 1199 is what made it the easier of the two to race. Drive out of a slow corner matters more than peak power on most circuits.
Cornering ABS, Usually Removed
Race builds disable much of the road electronics, which is part of why a separate system ends up in the loom. The factory package assumes a rider who wants protecting.
Rebuilt Between Rounds
A machined body handles that indefinitely. There is nothing clipped together to lose tension after the fifth time the bodywork comes off.
