The JP PSR AP009 TC is the race version of the left-hand block for the earlier RSV4, with the button order rearranged for track use.

What Racing Changes
The functions are the same; their positions are not. The blue button moves from second in the column to the bottom, which puts the control a rider reaches for under braking where the thumb naturally lands.
Muscle Memory Is the Point
On a circuit the same input is repeated twenty times a session and there is no spare attention for finding a switch. Positioning the frequently used control at the end of the column means it can be found by geometry alone.
A Litre Engine With a Racing Record
The 999.6 cc V4 in this bike won three World Superbike titles between 2010 and 2014. Very little separated the homologated race engine from the road one, which is why the road bike behaves the way it does.
Up to 2016
This block fits the earlier control layout. Aprilia changed the left-hand assembly for 2017, and the later bikes need the RF version even though the two are close to identical from a distance.
Mapping Between Sessions
Engine map, traction level and wheelie control are all reached from here. Riders change them as the track rubbers in and the tyre goes off, which is a great many operations over a season.
Four Anodised Finishes
Black, blue, red and titanium, converted into the aluminium. A track bike collects scuffs, and an anodised surface dulls where a painted one flakes and shows bright metal underneath.
Sealed Against the Jet
Military-specification elements enclosed within the billet. Hot washing after every session is what actually ends switchgear on a circuit bike, and there is no seam here for the water to use.
Still Plug and Play
Despite the rearranged layout the unit is pre-wired to Aprilia's original connector. Nothing is spliced and nothing has to be told about the change, so a bike can go back to road use without a second block.
