The JP ES 020 takes the reed valve assembly off the Multistrada V4S's cylinder head and closes the opening properly rather than leaving a capped hose in its place.

The Reed Assembly
A moulded housing holding one reed per port, bolted to the cylinder head and fed by a hose from the airbox. It is the half that physically admits the air.

It refits in twenty minutes with no new seals, and having it is what turns an inspection or a suspicious buyer into a straightforward evening.
Nothing Hidden
The cover is visible to anybody who looks at the engine, which is the correct way for a change of this kind to work.
Where the Soot Shows
Inside the airbox and on the filter, downstream of a cracked reed. It is the cheapest diagnosis available on the whole system.
A Job for the Same Session
The tank is already off for the electrical half, and taking it off twice for two twenty-minute jobs is a poor use of an evening.
The Half It Does Not Do
The dashboard warning comes from the solenoid circuit, which is a separate component in a separate place. Fitting the cover alone leaves the lamp exactly where it was, and that surprises a fair number of owners every year. The two halves are sold separately precisely because some owners need only one of them.
Which Ducatis Have Two
Every twin and every V4 carries an assembly on each head, so a complete job means two covers and access to both banks. Owners occasionally order one, fit it to the front cylinder because it is the easy one, and then discover the rear still has its housing and its hose.
The V4 Granturismo
This engine drops the desmodromic valve gear for spring closure and stretches the valve service interval enormously, but it keeps the same secondary air arrangement on both banks. Long-distance owners meet the hardware for the first time when a warning appears somewhere inconvenient.
