Six Hundred and Seventy-Five Cubic Centimetres
A hundred and twenty-eight horsepower from three cylinders, in a class everybody else contested with fours. It sounded and drove unlike anything on the grid.
The 2006 Launch
Triumph redrew the supersport class with a triple that made more midrange than the fours and revved nearly as hard. Reviewers were unprepared for how good it was.
A Decat Makes It Worse
A freer exhaust does not create the noise, it merely stops muffling it. Owners chase the sound through silencers for months before anybody explains where it comes from.
Before the Dyno
Any fuelling work should start from an engine that is not admitting unmetered air, because every number taken afterwards inherits the error otherwise.
The Whole Path
Airbox, hose, reed pack, cylinder head port and a solenoid controlling the lot. A complete deletion accounts for every one of them.
What a Workshop Scan Would Show
Nothing at all, because the circuit answers the test rather than avoiding it. That distinction matters when a motorcycle goes back to a dealer for something unrelated and somebody plugs a reader into it.
A Job That Rewards Preparation
Having the tank prop, the right socket and somewhere clean to put the bodywork turns a fiddly hour into a straightforward twenty minutes. That is true of most work on a modern motorcycle and particularly true here.
Where the Time Goes
Fifteen minutes to get the seat and tank off carefully, two minutes to swap the connector, fifteen minutes to put everything back and check nothing is trapped. The ratio is typical of work on a modern motorcycle and it is worth planning around.
Wiring That Stays Supported
Cable-tied to an existing loom run rather than left hanging. It is a thirty-second detail that prevents a chafed lead two years later.
