The JP ES 016 exists because the Desert X watches its plate lamp for current draw, and a modern LED unit simply does not draw enough to satisfy it.

The loom stays exactly as the factory built it, so the standard lamp refits whenever the standard hanger does.
Where the Lamp Sits
Moulded into the plate bracket on most of the range, which is why removing the bracket removes the lamp and there is no separate part to keep.
The Panel Clears Immediately
There is no delay and no relearn. The warning is gone at the next ignition cycle and it stays gone.
Nothing Else Is Affected
Riding modes, traction control and the rest of the electronics read entirely separate circuits and carry on exactly as before.
Local Rules Differ
Plate lighting requirements vary between markets, and the electronics are the same everywhere. The eliminator answers the second and not the first.
A Reversible Change
Everything about this can be undone in the time it took to do, which is the property that separates a modification from an alteration.
Legality, Briefly
A motorcycle used on public roads needs its number plate illuminated. This part answers the monitoring circuit; it does not provide light. Fitting it on a road machine assumes an alternative lamp is doing that job properly, which is worth confirming before the plate bracket goes on.
Why the Plate Lamp Is Watched Separately
Ducati's body controller treats each lighting circuit as its own item, because the legislation behind them does. That is why a machine with a tail tidy can show one warning and a machine with an LED tail unit can show a different one, and why clearing the first has no effect at all on the second.
