Both Ends at Once
A track build removes the headlight with the nose and the rear light with the tail. Both circuits are monitored and both produce a warning.
Why a Kit
Ordered separately the two parts arrive at different times, and the bike sits half converted in between. One part number avoids that entirely.
Current, Measured
Aprilia checks each lighting circuit for load. An absent lamp is read as a failure and the panel says so at every start.
Answered, Not Suppressed
Both eliminators present the load the controller expects, so the display is clear and nothing is stored for a scrutineer or a dealer to find.
The Triple Headlight
Aprilia's three-lamp arrangement is the RS 660's signature and it divides opinion. It is also heavy and complex, which is why it leaves for a track build.
Race Bodywork
A one-piece nose and a race tail have no provision for lighting or a plate. Fitting them means both assemblies come off in the same session.
Weight at Both Ends
The headlight sits high and ahead of the steering axis, the tail light behind the rear axle. Both are places where mass costs the most.
Nothing Cut
Aprilia's own connectors at both ends, no adapters and no splices anywhere in the loom.
Reversible
Both standard assemblies refit with the road bodywork whenever the bike returns to the street.
Track Only
A motorcycle without lighting at either end is not road legal anywhere in Europe.
Two Hundred and Seventy Degrees
The crank spacing gives the parallel twin an uneven beat and the traction feel of a V-twin, which is deliberate and is most of why the engine is likeable. It is also why the RS 660 sounds unlike anything else in its class.
