DescriptionThe whole story▼
The chain guard runs along the top of the swingarm over the upper chain run. Small part, and on this particular engine it covers something working harder than most people assume.
Key Features
- Upper chain guard in the original length
- 200 Plain weave, clear coat, matt, satin or raw
- Autoclave-cured, original swingarm fixings
- Fits the lengthened 1260 swingarm and the 1200
- Comes off at every chain adjustment
Twelve Hundred and Sixty Two Cubic Centimetres of Torque
The 1260 took its engine from the XDiavel and tuned it for midrange. Ducati's own claim was eighty-five per cent of peak torque available from 3,500 rpm, which is exactly the kind of number that sounds like marketing until you look at a chain and sprocket set at twenty thousand kilometres.
Chains on this bike work. That means more frequent adjustment, which means this guard comes on and off more often than the part itself suggests, which in turn makes the condition of its mounting holes worth more than a gram saved.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati Multistrada 1260, model years 2018 to 2020, on the original swingarm.
Road Approval
Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. Chain guarding is required by construction rules in several markets, and this part maintains it.
Fitting
Light torque. Confirm the guard cannot reach the chain at full compression with the chain at its slackest permitted setting, and check it again after a sprocket change.
