This is not an exhaust. It is the piece that gets an exhaust past the noise official at the gate, and it only exists because circuits keep tightening their static limits while race systems keep getting louder.

What It Replaces, and What It Needs
The link pipe is the section between the headers and the silencer. Akrapovic's race systems for the S 1000 RR — the Evolution Line S-B10E10-APLT/1 and the Racing Line S-B10R5-APLT/1 — come with their own, and this one goes in its place when a quieter reading is needed.
On its own it does nothing. There has to be an Akrapovic Evolution or Racing Line on the motorcycle already, and this page should not be read as an alternative to buying one.
The Resonator Is the Whole Point
A resonator is a tuned chamber that cancels a specific band of sound rather than simply choking the flow. That is why it is a separate steel part with volume to it, and why it costs what a silencer costs.
Akrapovic gives no figure for how far the reading drops, and no figure is quoted here. What the manufacturer states is that the static noise level is lowered, measured at 5,500 rpm in its own tests. A rider who needs to hit a specific number should test the combination before entering.
Steel, Not Titanium
The rest of these systems is titanium. This part is stainless steel, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a saving: a resonator chamber has internal structure that has to survive heat cycling and vibration for years, and steel does that better.
It also means the part is heavier than the pipe it replaces. On a track day that is the trade being made — a little mass, in exchange for being allowed on the circuit at all.
Fairings Are Worth Checking
Akrapovic notes that on motorcycles fitted with aftermarket racing fairings, a minor modification to the lower section may be necessary. Most race bikes wear glass rather than the standard plastic, so this affects more owners than it sounds like it would.
It is a trim, not a structural change, but it is easier to discover before the first session than during it.
Two Machines, Eight Model Years
The part covers the S 1000 RR from 2019, when BMW introduced the ShiftCam engine and the current frame, and the M 1000 RR that followed it. The exhaust route did not change across the range, so one number does both.
Remapping
Mandatory, as it is for the race systems this part goes into. Changing the volume and the flow path between headers and silencer changes what the engine sees, and the map has to know about it.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use. For closed course competition only.
