Three newton metres at 4,500 rpm, on an engine that does its work below five thousand. The Scrambler's air-cooled 803 cc L-twin is not a high-revving machine, and that is exactly where this exhaust puts its gain.

A Design Made for This Motorcycle
Akrapovic describes the system as a completely new design whose double conical muffler and link pipe integrate with the bike's style. That is not marketing filler on a Scrambler: the whole motorcycle is a styling exercise, and an exhaust that looked like a sportsbike part would ruin it.
Black-coated steel rather than bare titanium is part of the same decision. On the Icon Dark — a version defined by its matt black finish — bright metal would be the wrong answer.
Nearly Four Kilograms
Ducati's standard system on this generation weighs 6.79 kg, heavy for a 73 PS air-cooled twin. Most of it is the collector box under the engine that holds the catalytic converter and does the noise work.
3.79 kg off a 189 kg motorcycle is two per cent, and on a Scrambler it comes from low down where it helps the bike's easy, tip-in handling rather than hurting it.
The Header That Goes With It
Add E-D8E2, the titanium optional header for this machine, and the two form a complete system. Akrapovic measured that header's figures with a stainless Slip-On Line fitted — this one.
Two Silencers, Not One
Akrapovic writes of black-coated mufflers in the plural, and the design is a double conical arrangement. On a Scrambler that matters visually: the stacked twin-outlet look is part of what Ducati was reaching for with the Icon Dark, and a single can would break it.
Laser-Engraved, Not Stickered
The Akrapovic logo is engraved into the metal by laser rather than applied as a decal. On a black-coated surface an engraved mark stays legible after years of cleaning, where a sticker lifts at the edges.

S-D8SO6-ISSSBL covers the Ducati Scrambler 800 Icon Dark for model years 2021 and 2022. Ducati moved the Scrambler to a revised platform for 2023.
