DescriptionThe whole story▼
The RSV4 Factory was Aprilia's top-of-the-range superbike when the V4 appeared in 2009, and early examples are now kept by owners who think about their value as much as their lap times. Many of those bikes still carry the parts they left the factory with, and anything that changes is noted carefully. Fitting a coloured oil filler cap is a reversible modification, as long as the original is kept safe. For the RSV4 Factory of 2009 to 2018, Accossato lists the FP009, CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised and made with an M25x1.5 thread.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia RSV4 Factory, 2009 to 2018
- M25x1.5 thread as specified by Accossato
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment and anodised
- Eight colours: silver, titanium, black, gold, red, blue, orange, green
- Suits other motorcycles with the same cap size once checked
- Easy to swap back to the original cap
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, founded in 1969 in Moncalieri near Turin, machines the FP009 from aluminium and anodises it in eight colours: silver, titanium, black, gold, red, blue, orange or green. The thread is M25x1.5. The maker describes the cap as compatible with the listed motorcycles and as adaptable to others whose filler takes the same size. Because nothing else on the engine is altered, the swap can always be undone.
The Original Cap Goes in a Labelled Bag
When the FP009 goes onto an RSV4 Factory, the original cap should not end up loose in a drawer. Clean it, put it in a small bag, and write on the label what it is, which bike it came from and the date it was removed. Keep the bag with the bike's documents or with other removed parts. If you sell the Factory one day, a buyer who wants the bike in its original state can have it, and you can show exactly what was changed. The swap itself is quick. With the engine cold and switched off, clean the area around the filler, unscrew the original cap and set it aside on a clean cloth. Check that the thread and the sealing face on the engine are clean, then screw in the FP009 with finger pressure only, never with force. Check the oil level as the owner's manual describes while the filler is open anyway. After the next ride, look for any sign of oil at the filler. Choose a colour that works with the livery of your Factory; silver or titanium are discreet, red or gold stand out.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the RSV4 Factory, Accossato's list gives 2009 to 2018. The FP009 has an M25x1.5 thread and, according to the maker, can also be fitted to other motorcycles with a filler of that size. In our range the same cap is also listed for the RSV4 RR, the Tuono V4 1100 Factory and the MV Agusta Brutale 1090. If your Factory has had engine work, check the thread before ordering.
Road Approval
No ABE, no test mark: for the FP009 we have no approval paperwork, so we offer it for racing and competition.
