DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kawasaki's Versys 1000 S is built to make long distances feel short: a tall four-cylinder tourer with a generous fairing and an upright riding position. Many owners who try a circuit do not bring it on a trailer. They ride there, sometimes for hours, and the track day becomes one stop on a longer journey. That changes how the fuel should be planned. For the Versys 1000 S of 2021 to 2024, Accossato makes the FC126, a filler cap with quick release, machined entirely from aluminium, its closing pawl carrying a pin in a colour of your choosing.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Versys 1000 S, 2021 to 2024
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium, robust and durable according to Accossato
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and shutting the filler in moments
- Pin colour to order: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl available separately as a spare part
- New Accossato design
- No German ABE on record; intended for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the whole FC126 from aluminium on CNC machines and rates the result as robust and durable. The shape is a design of its own, not a copy of the Kawasaki part. Opening and closing depend on a quick-closing pawl, and that pawl is also where your colour choice shows, with six pins on offer from subdued black to bright gold. On a Versys 1000 S whose cap may be changed twice on a circuit day, it helps that a damaged pawl can be bought on its own while the cap stays in service.
Arriving With a Light Tank
Ridden to the circuit, the Versys 1000 S arrives with its original cap on the tank, because that is the one meant for the road. The real question is how much fuel sits beneath it. A brim-full tank makes the swap in the paddock messier than it needs to be, since the fuel stands right below the opening once the original cap comes off. Many riders therefore plan the last road fuel stop so that the tank is well down on arrival, though never so low that a queue at the gate becomes a worry. Once parked, switch off, put the bike on a stand and let the engine cool while you sign on, sit through the briefing and pull on your leathers. Then clean around the filler, remove the original, fit the FC126 and check that it sits evenly all round. The fuel for the day's sessions comes from a can, poured slowly with the engine off. In the evening the order reverses, and the first petrol station on the way home fills the tank again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the FC126 a single entry on this bike, the Versys 1000 S from 2021 to 2024. At Inter-Pace the same cap is also catalogued for the Versys 1000 SE, for the standard Versys 1000 and for the Ninja 1000 SX. If your Versys 1000 S carries a model year outside that range, or you are not sure which version you own, compare the details with Accossato's application list before ordering.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate on record for the FC126, so we sell it for circuit use. The Versys 1000 S leaves the factory with a filler cap that normally opens with the ignition key, and for every kilometre on public roads that original belongs on the tank.
