DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many motocross tracks place a double jump straight after a turn, and clearing it depends on how well you drive out of that turn. On a GasGas MC 250F, a four-stroke that likes to be kept high in its rev range, the clutch is how you find that drive: a quick slip as the bike straightens lifts the revs and sends the rear tyre into the face with full power. Accossato's folding C7283 clutch lever for the MC 250F of 2021 and 2022 is cut from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the GasGas MC 250F, 2021 to 2022
- Replaces the original lever at the stock clutch mount
- Longer blade, laid out for four fingers
- Accossato's anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward in a fall
- CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red on a dark base
- One lever in the package
- No German ABE documented; motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Solid Ergal 7075 is the starting point for the C7283, and Accossato machines the lever from it on CNC equipment in Italy. The alloy ranks among the strongest grades of aluminium, and the company sets strength, lightness and reliability as its design targets. The lever consists of a dark base that holds the clutch pivot and a blade in the colour you choose, joined by a folding joint. Its long blade is made to take four fingers, which is useful for the quick, full pull of a clutch pop.
Clearing the Double Out of the Turn
The timing of a jump out of a corner is set before the bike leaves the rut. If the MC 250F exits a gear too high or with the revs too low, it reaches the face short of speed, and the rider has to decide in a split second whether to go for it or roll it. A slip of the clutch at the right moment solves the problem, lifting the revs back into the power so the bike accelerates hard up the face. Done every lap, over several doubles, it becomes a large part of how a 250F is ridden.
Mistakes on jumps are rarely gentle. A bike that comes up short lands on the back of the jump, the rider is thrown forward, and the MC 250F may end up on its side at the bottom of the landing. When the left side hits first, the clutch lever takes the impact, and the C7283's blade then has the chance to fold forward on its joint rather than snap. That is not certain, but it may let the rider get going again. After such a crash the bike needs a careful look before rejoining; a clutch lever that folded rather than broke is one less problem on that list.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7283 goes on the original clutch mount of the GasGas MC 250F built in 2021 and 2022, replacing the stock lever. For the right side of the bar the B8283 folding brake lever covers the same two model years and comes in black, blue or orange; red is offered only on the clutch lever.
Road Approval
The C7283 is sold without a German ABE, for motocross and other off-road competition, where the MC 250F is used.
