DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Accossato PRS 17x17-18-19 is a radial brake master cylinder built around a 17 mm piston and a three position adjustable lever pivot, aimed at riders who want to tune their front brake feel rather than accept a single fixed setting. Accossato suggests the 17 mm piston for calipers with a mounting spacing of 32 mm or less, and the pivot distance can be set to 17, 18 or 19 mm so the lever action can be matched to track days, road riding or a change of tyres and pads. The long folding lever is offered in seven colours, with the adjusting knob finished to match.

Key Features

  • 17 mm piston diameter, suggested for calipers with a mounting spacing of 32 mm or less
  • Adjustable lever pivot distance: 17, 18 or 19 mm, suitable for all uses
  • Long folding lever with relieving eyelet (RST), available in seven colours
  • Adjusting knob finished in the same colour as the lever
  • CNC-machined aluminium body with natural anodising
  • Offset riser that limits master cylinder flex under hard braking
  • Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
  • Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato builds this master cylinder entirely in Italy, machining the body from aluminium billet and finishing it with a natural anodising process rather than paint. The fasteners holding the unit to its clamp are stainless steel, the bleed valve is zinc-plated steel, and the piston seals are moulded from Formula 1 compound so they keep their sealing properties through repeated heating and cooling cycles in brake fluid. A riser offset within the mounting clamp is used to resist bending of the body when the lever is pulled hard, and the internal passages are shaped so that the passive travel of the lever, the small amount of movement before the pads actually bite, is kept well below that of a standard radial unit.

Why the Lever Pivot Is Adjustable

Unlike a master cylinder with a single fixed pivot distance, the PRS 17x17-18-19 lets the rider change the relationship between hand effort and lever travel without swapping any parts. Moving the pivot to 17 mm shortens the effective lever arm, which lightens the pull but asks for a slightly longer stroke to reach full braking force; moving it out to 19 mm lengthens the arm, so the lever feels firmer and more direct for the same hand pressure. Accossato describes the full 17 to 19 mm range as suitable for all uses, which is why riders who switch between track sessions and road use, or who simply want to try a different bite point, can do so at the lever itself rather than ordering a different master cylinder. The 17 mm piston size is specified for calipers whose mounting bolts sit 32 mm apart or closer, a detail worth checking against the calipers already fitted to the motorcycle.

Fitment and Compatibility

No vehicle list is published for this master cylinder, and no motorcycles are recorded against it in our fitment data; it is offered as a universal radial brake master cylinder for handlebars with a 22 mm clamp diameter. Before ordering, check that the handlebar clamp area measures 22 mm, that the caliper mounting bolts are spaced 32 mm or less, and that the rest of the brake system is designed to work with a 17 mm master cylinder.

Road Approval

This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The package includes the Accossato PRS 17x17-18-19 radial brake master cylinder with the long folding lever and relieving eyelet (RST) and the matching adjusting knob, both in the colour selected, finished in natural anodised aluminium. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinc-plated bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are fitted to the unit. The stop light switch, available separately as ID001 or ID002, and the fluid reservoir are not included and must be purchased separately.
