DescriptionThe whole story▼

Some trails neither climb nor descend; they cling to a hillside, a narrow shelf with the slope rising on one side and falling away on the other. On a KTM 250 XC-W these off-camber traverses are ridden largely on the clutch, because a spinning rear tyre on a sideways slope simply slides downhill. Accossato's C7283 suits that riding on the 250 XC-W of 2006 to 2022: its long blade takes four fingers, and a hinge lets it fold when the bike lies down against the hill.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the KTM 250 XC-W, 2006 to 2022
  • Listed for the 2006–2013 bikes and for the 2014–2022 bikes
  • Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
  • Long blade with room for four fingers
  • Blade can fold forward on its joint instead of breaking
  • Cut from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
  • Blade colours: black, blue, orange, red
  • No German ABE documented; for off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

Every C7283 begins as a solid block of Ergal 7075 and is shaped on CNC machines in Italy. Accossato relies on this high-strength aluminium alloy because it wants its off-road levers strong, light and reliable at once. Two components result. A dark base remains on the clutch pivot, and a blade finished in black, blue, orange or red hangs from it by a joint. On the clutch side Accossato makes the blade longer than on its brake levers and spreads the pull across four fingers.

Along the Sidehill

Crossing an off-camber slope is mostly about weight and traction. Weight goes onto the downhill footpeg, which presses the tyres into the slope, and the upper body stays upright while the bike follows the line of the trail. The throttle is held steady and low, and the clutch smooths every change in drive, because a sudden burst of power breaks the rear tyre loose and the back of the bike steps downhill. Two-stroke power can arrive quickly, so on the 250 XC-W a well-timed slip of the clutch is often the difference between a clean crossing and a slide.

If the tyres let go anyway, the safer fall is into the hill, and experienced riders let the bike go that way on purpose. When the uphill side is on your left, the clutch lever lands on the slope, sometimes on a rock half hidden in the grass. The C7283's joint gives the blade a way to fold forward, which improves its chance of staying usable. Lift the bike, point the 250 XC-W along the trail, and a clutch that still works lets you move off without a struggle on the slope.

Fitment and Compatibility

The C7283 is listed for the KTM 250 XC-W from 2006 to 2022, with Accossato dividing the run into 2006–2013 and 2014–2022; the lever fits the original clutch mount in both periods. Riders of 2014 to 2022 bikes can add the B8283 folding brake lever on the right. For older bikes, this clutch lever is the only one in Accossato's off-road range. Black, blue and orange are common to both levers; red is available on this one only.

Road Approval

No German ABE is documented for the C7283. It is sold for off-road riding and competition and is not approved for public roads.
