DescriptionThe whole story▼
A race that starts on a damp track and finishes on a dry one is a test of adaptation, and the front brake is at the heart of it. On a Panigale 1299, the lever setting that gives delicate control in the wet can feel vague once the line has dried. Accossato's RA002 is a folding brake lever with a 90-degree remote adjuster for the 1299 of 2015 to 2018, built so that the rider's left hand can re-set the lever while the bike is moving.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Panigale 1299, 2015 to 2018
- 90-degree remote adjuster for the left hand
- Holder offered in 35 mm or 60 mm
- For the original brake master cylinder
- Seven blade colours on a black base: black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver
- RST cut-out or NRST blade
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Track use; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
At its core the RA002 is an aluminium folding lever, CNC-machined and anodised: a black base around the pivot, a coloured blade, and a hinge between them. The remote adjuster is the addition that gives it its purpose, and its holder can be ordered in 35 mm or 60 mm. Blades come in the seven colours listed above; with RST they have a lightening cut-out, with NRST they are solid.
When the Line Dries
Wet braking is about gentleness. Pressure has to build slowly, grip is limited, and many riders like a little more lever travel so they can feel the tyre before asking more of it. As the rain stops and a dry line appears, the picture changes lap by lap: braking gets harder and later, and the lever that felt reassuringly soft ten minutes earlier now travels further than the rider wants.
On a Panigale 1299 with the RA002, the lever can follow that change. Each time the line looks a little drier, the left hand can take some travel out of the lever on a straight, and the next braking zone shows whether it was the right amount. Without a remote adjuster, the choice is to live with the wet setting or to pit and lose time. Should the damp patches win and the 1299 go down, the hinged blade has a chance to fold rather than break.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato covers the Panigale 1299 with the RA002 from 2015 to 2018, and the entry includes the 1299 R of 2017 and 2018 as well as US and Brazilian versions. The lever fits the original brake master cylinder. No other folding lever is listed for this bike; Accossato's fixed levers for it are the EDF099 on the brake side and the ESH011 on the clutch side, both for 2015 to 2018.
Road Approval
Sold for circuit use: no German ABE is documented for the RA002.
