Three Finishes
Black, red and titanium, all grown into the aluminium. The 821 has always been sold on personalisation as much as specification, and this part number suits that.
The Whole Assembly or Nothing
Ducati puts the switches inside the throttle housing and offers no smaller replacement. One hesitant contact retires the complete component.
A Hundred and Twelve Horsepower
The liquid-cooled Monster scaled down, weighing less and costing less than the 1200. It was the version most people actually bought and it has always been the sensible one.
Salt Over Winters
An 821 is frequently its owner's only motorcycle, so it goes out in February. Salt reaches a terminal through a moulded joint and works on it across several seasons rather than one.
Cut, Not Formed
The throttle bore keeps a dimension a mould can only approach. Ten years of daily use later, the grip still turns the way it did rather than having developed permanent play.
Anodising Is Electrochemical
The colour is grown into the top layer of the metal. There is no film to lift from an edge, which on a bike parked outdoors is the difference visible at the first winter's end.
An Urban Mode Worth Having
Seventy-five horsepower and a softened response. On a motorcycle used in traffic every day that is a genuinely useful setting rather than a line on a specification sheet.
A Steel Trellis
It survived on the 821 long after the superbikes had abandoned frames entirely. Heavier than aluminium, and it is what a Monster is supposed to look like.
Untouched Wiring
Ducati's own plug at the end of the loom. No splices, no adapters and nothing for a future owner to discover.
