The Graffiti Livery
Ducati commissioned a hand-drawn graffiti scheme applied through a specific painting process. It is the only reason the RVE exists as a separate model and it worked commercially.
Quickshifter as Standard
The RVE adds the bidirectional shifter to the base 950 specification. On a supermoto with 114 horsepower it is used constantly rather than occasionally.
The 937 Testastretta
Eleven degrees of valve overlap, 96 newton metres and a service interval of 30.000 kilometres. It is the engine Ducati spreads across half its range and it is the best thing about several of them.
Throttle Assembly Only
The switch block is not part of this. It covers the housing alone, which is what an owner wants when the electrics work and the moulded plastic does not appeal.
Where the Tube Turns
Cut rather than formed, the bore keeps the grip's rotation smooth and concentric. On a bike ridden with continuous throttle movement, that consistency is felt every single ride.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the aluminium. Against a livery this busy, the quietest possible cockpit component is unambiguously the right decision.
Ergal 7075
Roughly double the yield strength of ordinary machined alloy. On a supermoto, which gets dropped as a matter of routine, the material is chosen for the fall.
Painted, Not Wrapped
Ducati applied the RVE scheme as paint rather than as a vinyl wrap, which is more expensive and considerably more durable. It is one of the few limited liveries that ages properly.
A Seat You Move Around On
The Hypermotard's saddle is long and flat because the rider is meant to shift forward and back constantly rather than sit in one place. It is the clearest sign that Ducati built a supermoto rather than a naked bike with tall suspension.
