Semi-Active and Still Manual Somewhere
The EVO adjusts its damping continuously and its brake remains a conventional hydraulic system. That is where the offset clamp geometry usually originates: an owner who fitted a remote-adjust cylinder to match the sophistication of everything else.
Establishing the Geometry
Look at the clamp half currently on the bike. Offset means one bolt is forward of the other. Manufacturers revise that spacing between generations of the same product, so the motorcycle rather than the packaging is the reliable source.
Three Damping Modes
Comfort, Street and Sport, plus an auto setting that decides for itself. On a road with a changing surface the difference between them is substantial rather than nominal, which is why EVO owners actually use the controls.
Where a Moulding Softens
The standard assembly is two injection mouldings clipped around the bar. Over several seasons the halves develop a fraction of play, the buttons across the joint stop confirming anything, and the rider adapts by pressing harder without noticing.
Weather at Road Speed
A Super Duke has no fairing worth the name. Rain reaches the switchgear directly and stays, and the joint through a two-piece housing is precisely where it eventually causes an intermittent fault.
Milled From Solid
One block of Ergal 7075 with sealed contacts. No joint for a button to sit across, no seam for water to find, and a clamp that tightens with a fastener rather than snapping around the tube.
Black Anodised
One finish, through the surface rather than applied. It dulls with age and contact rather than flaking away to bright metal.
