Two Model Years Only
KTM built the 1050 in 2015 and 2016 before the 1090 replaced it. That short run makes it uncommon and its parts supply thin, which is worth knowing before starting any work on one that needs components.
Ninety-Five Horsepower
The LC8 twin detuned to 1050 cc, partly so that the bike could be restricted for licence categories the 1190 could not reach. The engine retained its character; there was simply less of it, which suited a great many riders perfectly.
An Adventure Bike Within Reach
Part of the 1050's purpose was to bring a full-sized KTM adventure motorcycle to riders who would otherwise have waited years. It did that job well and was then made redundant by a model that did the same thing with more power.
What the Left Cluster Does
Indicators, horn, beam and the navigation of a menu with riding modes and ABS settings. On a bike used for touring, all of it is worked repeatedly across whole days rather than occasionally.
Where Wear Accumulates
The indicator control goes first because it is used most. Nothing about the deterioration is dramatic: the click simply stops being definite, and the rider compensates by pressing harder without registering that they have begun to.
Sealed Against Real Weather
Elements sealed inside a one-piece milled body. Adventure bikes are ridden when other motorcycles stay indoors, and the absence of a moulded joint is what keeps the controls accurate through that.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the surface. On a handlebar carrying guards and a navigation mount, black is the option that adds nothing to the visual clutter already present.
