The Naked Version
Same 1255 cc four, no fairing. The Bandit has been Suzuki's practical big bike for decades and it has never pretended to be anything else.
Torque Rather Than Revs
The oil-cooled derived engine pulls from idle and does not need to be worked. It is why Bandits accumulate enormous mileages in the hands of people who ride every day.
A Common Repair
Sidestands on well-used bikes get bent, and replacements for a discontinued model are not always available. Removing the assembly is sometimes the practical answer.
What Happens Then
The circuit reads permanently open and the ECU treats that as a deployed stand. The engine cuts the moment a gear is selected.
Closing the Loop
This unit supplies the expected state. The bike runs normally and nothing is logged in the background for a later reader.
Ten Model Years
The fitment runs from 2007 to 2016. Suzuki ended the Bandit line afterwards and nothing in the range replaced it directly.
Original Connector
Nothing spliced. On an older motorcycle, an untouched loom is worth a great deal when something else eventually needs diagnosing.
A Workhorse
Bandits are bought to be used rather than admired. Two hundred thousand kilometres on one is unremarkable and the engine is rarely the reason they are retired.
Think It Through
If the stand is still fitted and the bike is on the road, the interlock should stay connected. It costs nothing and it prevents a genuine mistake.
Discontinued Rather Than Replaced
Suzuki stopped building the Bandit because emissions rules made the old engine uneconomic to certify, not because anybody had stopped buying it. Nothing in the current range does the same job at the same price and owners are aware of that.
