Almost Unbreakable
The 649 cc twin has a reputation for durability that very few engines match. High-mileage examples are common and rarely troubled.
Renamed the Ninja 650
Kawasaki changed the name in 2017 along with a substantial redesign, which confuses used listings to this day.
The Interlock
Kawasaki cuts the engine if a gear is selected while the stand is down. It exists for a specific low-speed accident that catches experienced riders as readily as new ones.
Answered, Not Bridged
The unit presents the state the controller expects. A length of wire across the terminals presents something else and frequently earns its own warning instead.
The Cheapest Diagnosis
Before ordering anything, check whether the stand is straight, whether the mechanism is packed and whether the connector is corroded. Two of those cost nothing to fix and one of them usually works. Only when the switch has genuinely failed or the stand has gone does an eliminator become the right answer.

Unplug, plug in, secure the lead. There is no third step, no polarity to observe and no configuration of any kind.
The Cost of Doing Nothing
An interlock that cuts the engine at random is not merely annoying, it is dangerous in traffic. Whichever way it is solved, leaving it is the worst option.
Why Bridging Goes Wrong
The controller looks for a particular condition rather than simply continuity, and a jumper across the terminals sometimes reads as a different fault. It is the kind of shortcut that produces a new problem in place of the old one.
