Machined Wheels

Nothing Else Can Be Tested
Until the engine runs with a gear engaged, no other part of a preparation list can be checked. That is why this job comes first every time.
Carrying a Spare
Riders heading somewhere remote sometimes carry a replacement switch. An eliminator weighs less and settles the question permanently rather than once.
Why the Position Cannot Change
The switch has to sense the stand, so it lives where the stand lives, which is the lowest and dirtiest part of the motorcycle.
A Sealed, Potted Unit
Water and salt reach the swingarm pivot more than almost anywhere else on the motorcycle, which is why the eliminator is closed rather than open.
Mud on an Adventure Bike
The mechanism packs solid on a wet track and reports a deployed stand entirely on its own. Washing it out buys a ride or two and the fault returns.
Why Not Just Bridge the Plug
A paperclip and some tape produce the same result until they do not. The connector is in the wettest, dirtiest part of the motorcycle, and an intermittent bridge produces an engine that cuts out unpredictably, which is considerably worse than the fault it was hiding.
The Connector Position
It sits low and forward on the left, generally reachable once a belly pan or a side panel is off, and occasionally without removing anything at all. Whatever the model, the eliminator should be tied up rather than left where the chain run can reach it.
