Carbon and Data Logging
The M adds semi-active Ohlins and a logger to the same crossplane engine. It is built in limited numbers for people who record their laps.
An Evening's Work at Most
Seat off, tank lifted on some models, connectors separated, module plugged in and tied down. There is nothing to configure and nothing to learn afterwards, which is unusual for anything electronic on a motorcycle.
Weight and Space
Two hundred grams and a body about the size of a matchbox. On most motorcycles the harder part is finding somewhere tidy for the cable rather than for the module.
Where It Makes the Biggest Difference
An older injected machine with an aftermarket exhaust, ridden briskly on roads. That combination is where the standard mixture is furthest from what the engine now wants.
A Narrow Tool, Used Precisely
The module has exactly one lever: how long each injector stays open. Everything the product achieves comes from applying that lever at the right load and the right engine speed, which is knowledge rather than hardware.
Sequence With an Exhaust
Fit the silencer, ride it, then fit the module. Two changes at once tell the rider nothing about either, and the exhaust is the one that moves the mixture furthest.
Commuting
Stop-start traffic is the opposite case. Every junction is a transition off a closed throttle, which is exactly the region where a lean factory map is most obviously lean.
A Product With No Story
It is plugged in, it works, and there is nothing further to report. That is an unusual thing to say about an electronic accessory and it is the best thing about this one.
