A Hundred and Fifty-Nine Horsepower
Unchanged from the standard bike, because the S premium goes entirely into the chassis and the finish rather than the engine.
A Circuit of Its Own
The plate lamp is watched separately from the tail light, so a bike that keeps its rear light still reports a fault when the hanger goes.
Nothing Coded
No dealer session, no reset and no adaptation. The circuit reads correctly from the first start and the display simply stays clean.
The Fault Does Not Clear
It returns after every reset until the circuit reads correctly, which is why taping over the indicator is not a solution anybody keeps for long.
Where the Connector Hides
Under the tail unit on most of the range, reached once the seat and the side panels are off. It is exposed during the hanger removal anyway.
A Circuit That Cannot Be Ignored
The warning persists, cannot be cleared and reappears at every start. Riders who try to live with it generally give up within a fortnight.
What Ducati Actually Fits
A small lamp moulded into the hanger assembly on most of the range, which means it cannot be kept when the hanger goes. There is nothing to transfer.
Keep the Original Assembly
The standard lamp, its bracket and its fasteners belong together in a labelled bag. Refitting is a two-minute job with nothing needing replacement, and the person who eventually needs them is either an inspector or the next owner rather than you.
Water Under the Seat Unit
The rear of a motorcycle collects everything the back wheel throws forward, and the area behind the plate is the wettest part of it. A potted body with a moulded plug survives that; a soldered joint wrapped in tape survives one winter and then produces an intermittent fault nobody can find.
