The Same Engine
Triumph did not tune the R differently. The hundred and twenty-eight horsepower triple is identical and the money went entirely into the chassis.

Overfilling at the Pump
Continuing after the nozzle clicks pushes liquid petrol into the charcoal, and a soaked bed causes hard starting and an uneven idle that nobody traces back to a fuel station.

One plastic vessel, one steel bracket, one solenoid and three lengths of hose with their clips. It takes longer to describe than to remove.
Chafing on a Trail Bike
Lines running behind the engine rub against brackets on rough ground, and a split vapour hose is a fuel smell and a fault code in an awkward place.
Where the Weight Actually Matters
A kilogram and a half is nothing on a set of scales and something on a motorcycle, because the vessel sits high and behind the engine. Mass in that position resists direction changes more than the same mass low in the frame.
An Empty Bracket Is Untidy
Leaving the mount behind serves no purpose and looks unfinished. The whole group comes off together and the frame is left clean, which is part of the point on a naked motorcycle.
Nothing in the Service Schedule
Triumph specifies no inspection, no replacement interval and no test for the charcoal. It is fitted, it works for some years and then it quietly stops, with no warning of any kind.
A Job That Rewards Labels
Marking each hose as it comes off turns a future refit from a puzzle into a reversal. Masking tape and a pen cost nothing.
