The JP ES 002 is the complete answer to the Multistrada 1200 S's canister: the drum, the valve, the hoses and the fault the controller stores when the solenoid disappears.

Semi-Active Damping
The S carries Ducati's Skyhook system with automatic preload, which on a fully loaded touring bike removes the adjustment riders least often get right.
Where It Hides
Behind the engine or under the tail depending on the model, with three lines and a bracket. On a Ducati that area is never generous.

The Purge Valve's Failure Mode
When the bed is saturated it delivers liquid fuel rather than vapour into the inlet tract, which is why a flooded canister produces a rich, uneven idle.

No specialist tooling, no diagnostic access and no manufacturer software. Anybody comfortable removing a seat and a tank can complete it in one session.

Which is why the vent has to be routed and terminated properly rather than simply pointed downwards and forgotten about entirely.

An Afternoon, Not an Evening
The removal itself is simple once the tank and side panels are off. What takes the time is tracing every hose to its end and making sure nothing is left open, because an open vapour line into an intake is worse than the canister ever was.
The Purge Valve Is the Electrical Half
It is a small solenoid the controller opens once the engine is warm, and it is the part that stores a fault when the hardware disappears. Understanding that it is separate from the canister itself explains why the kit contains a connector as well as a set of plugs.
