A Hundred and Seventy-Five Horsepower
From a 1293 cc inline four laid over at fifty-five degrees. The K 1300 S was BMW's fastest motorcycle for years and it is still quicker than most things on a road.
Duolever at the Front
BMW replaced the fork with a wishbone arrangement that separates braking from suspension. It behaves unlike anything else and owners either love it or never adapt.
What Comes Off the Bike
A charcoal canister, a mounting bracket, a solenoid and three lengths of hose with their clips.
A Crowded Motorcycle
The K 1300 packages an inline four, a shaft drive and a full fairing into a compact machine. Anything removed from behind the engine buys real working room.
Fuel in the Carbon
Filling past the nozzle click soaks the bed permanently, and hard starting follows. On a bike this age the fault is often assumed to be something more serious.
Where the Vent Goes
Routed away from the exhaust and clear of the swingarm, terminating in a fitting rather than a raw hose end. It takes a minute and it matters for years.
Nothing Stored
Because the circuit is satisfied rather than suppressed, no code waits in memory for the next diagnostic session to find.
An Ageing Loom
These bikes are now old enough that connectors have seen a decade of weather. A part that plugs in and cuts nothing is worth more than the price difference.
Reversible
Canister, bracket and lines all refit in their original positions. Nothing is cut and nothing is consumed.
