On the top yoke area of the first-generation Streetfighter V4 there is a small moulded plate around the ignition barrel. It is the part of the motorcycle a rider touches first and looks at last, and on a used machine it is usually the clearest evidence of how many times the bike has been started.

Replacing this plate is the least expensive thing that can be done to a tired cockpit, and it changes the impression of the whole area out of proportion to its price. On a motorcycle being prepared for sale it is worth more than almost anything else in this catalogue.

Avoid the Lacquer Here
The wear on this part comes from a metal key bunch dragged across it, and lacquer is the layer that shows that as pale lines against a dark background. A clear-coated plate looks perfect on delivery and carries its first visible mark within weeks.
Raw has nothing to scratch through and costs least, which makes it the technically and financially correct answer at the same time. Matt is close behind and looks more deliberate. Twill in raw is the choice for a cockpit that already uses twill elsewhere.
