A fine element invites one obvious question: is it finer than the paper panel it replaces? It has no answer. Series paper elements carry no published micron rating, so anyone weighing PM01T12 against the item currently in a V85 TT airbox is holding a specified part against an unspecified one. What can be compared is everything around the number: a rating that stays legible for as long as the part is owned, and a service model in which the same panel is cleaned and put back.
Key Features
- Dry polyester special nonwoven rated at 7 µm, the finest medium Sprint Filter lists for this airbox
- Rated flow of 560 l/m²/sec, stated plainly because it is the price of that retention
- Never oiled at any point in its life, so nothing can be over-applied, migrate or be forgotten
- Roughly twice the filtering area of a typical performance element, folded into the standard housing
- Fits the series airbox in place of the factory panel: no cutting, no repositioning, no remap
- Cleaned and refitted instead of discarded, with two years of warranty from the date of purchase
A specified part against an unspecified one
Sprint Filter publishes a figure for every cloth it sells: 85 µm at the open end, then 80, 37, 14, and finally the 7 µm of this one. Those numbers make the range comparable with itself, the only comparison a manufacturer controls. Against the original panel the useful statements are different in kind — this element is dry, it can be inspected, it can be washed, and its specification does not move with the supplier of the day. None of that is a power claim. An element dropped into an unaltered airbox leaves a series V85 TT making what it made before; what changes is an intake resistance that starts low and is restored by cleaning rather than drifting upwards until the next replacement.
Where 7 µm earns its keep
The V85 TT was sold as a machine that would take an unsealed road without ceremony, and unsealed roads are where this medium stops being an abstraction. Fine mineral dust hangs at wheel height, arrives continuously rather than in bursts, and is the fraction a coarser cloth is content to pass. If the year is spent on tarmac instead, the standard weave suits the machine better and the dense one costs flow for nothing. The decision belongs to the air the machine actually breathes, not to the way the model is marketed.
Care and cleaning
PM01T12 is regenerated with compressed air blown from the clean side outward, so trapped dust leaves the way it came instead of being driven deeper into the medium. When air alone stops being enough, lukewarm water with a mild detergent will do it; rinse thoroughly and let the element dry completely in moving air. No heat of any kind — no gun, no radiator, no flame — and it goes back in dry. The Downloads tab carries the maintenance sheet.
Fitment & Compatibility
Specified for the airbox of the Moto Guzzi V85 TT across model years 2018 to 2020. In this medium the part number covers two machines in total, the V85 TT and the V85 Travel; the Fitment tab lists both with their model years.
